Time to pick up the pieces.
So yesterday was crazy. As the vote showed, Kathy was obviously right and Gary is a lyin', cheatin' bastard. There are several enormously bad things to come out of last night, but at least one really, really good thing: I stayed in the game, and as a result the ex-Chukar people -- who I hope can stick together, minus Gary obviously -- still have a 6-5 edge on the other voting bloc. And Brett doesn't have an idol anymore, so we can safely target him without the threat of a surprise.
Now, on to the bad. I've got no idol, which leaves me in a really precarious position due to the huge target on my back. I'm also in a position where I absolutely, positively need our alliance to hold together, because if even one person flips then I'm probably a goner. On the plus side, the vote showed that at least 3 people are largely loyal to me (Kelly, Kevin, and Carmen, unless I'm hugely misreading the votes), and Kathy obviously didn't want me to go home given the heads-up she gave me. (By the way, we've since swapped messages, with me apologizing to her for being skeptical and her apologizing to me for being overly aggressive. I think we're totally cool now.) The only question in my mind is Cher, but I know she's closely aligned with Kathy, so I don't think she'll be a problem. And I take back what I said about her messing things up... in reality, she and Kathy were the only people who really knew what was going on, and luckily they helped clue me in at the last minute. I only wish that they had voted for someone other than George (like one of the other ex-Mohua people or Gary), but beggars can't be choosers.
Not much more to say until after the challenge. I hate that at this point my only real viable strategy is to stick with Cher and Kathy (for a while anyway), which is something that I largely wanted to avoid. Given the huge power play that Brett and Gary tried to pull, my hope is that they'll be seen as big enough threats that I won't be in imminent danger for a little while, but nothing's ever easy.
Oh, and I'm considering sending a message to Brett just telling him that Heidi's the blabber-mouthed idiot who single-handedly torpedoed his plan by letting the cat out of the bag. No real reason to do it, except that I'm pissed and feel like annoying him.
